Dr. Haizal Haron Kamar
As a medical practitioner, health devotion is an obligation. We sacrifice our time to treat patients
regardless of their status just to see them stand back up to their feet healthily. But extending past
health, I live by the maxim that emphasises “prevention is better than cure”. Despite having pure
intentions to the community, we also want them to understand that health is a precious gift that
must be well taken care of, through a healthy lifestyle all the time.
From the perspective of a practising physician, health is defined as the state of being free from any
illness. As health promotion awareness and disease prevention efforts enlarge, many of us are still
at risk of fatal diseases which can rob away the meaning of our life at any moment whether in the
form of sudden attack, or afflictions that rest undetected over the years. In fact, when such events
appear right into the picture, we will be forced to face life-and-death situations that leave us with
great lessons in terms of being prepared in advance.
Such a situation has sparked my interest in sharing my knowledge and expertise across the public
to safeguard their health before anything else could happen. Without true health, we can only lie
down in pain and zero can be done.
As AFYAA upholds practical values that reflect health as our greatest wealth, my responsibility is
to be the primary informant that can be their health guidance. I am positive that AFYAA envisions
creating a community that is health-conscious and my existence will complete their journey on
board.
